“What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?”
― Vincent Van Gogh
What if I tell you a story, but one where you get to pick the background, characters, plot and all intrinsic details. You can make it as minimal or as elaborate as you want. A quick glance like a piece of impressionism, one hanging at Norton Simon or The Chicago Institute… or perhaps some lines and dots by none other than Picasso and as he once shared “It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.” That carries so much power, take a break, digest it…
Have you ever had a chain all raveled up? Something you are trying to untangle so bad? The power of unraveling the chain and confronting our fears has a power denser than a sticky bun. What if I tell you that you are part of a story. Where does it take place? what does it look like? How does it unfold? Who is in the story? And perhaps, if we started to envision our lives as a narrative, one where we play an active role and not a dormant one, then maybe our output would change. What if caring is essential to life? What if being kind is detrimental? What are your tools in life?
Now, what does your storybook look like? Do you like it? Where do you see your story ending? Are you content? What can you do today to make it better? Maybe unraveling our lives is more important than we have allowed ourselves to think. Attempting to put things under the rug won’t fix our lives. Yet, there’s a treasure to get after we have defeated our fears. There is confidence that comes from fighting our comfort, from choosing to observe and not to neglect, but to live a better life. Then all of a sudden the vision emerges like the “allegory of the cave”, and one not everyone will understand.
Did you untangle? Did you envision? Did you build? Are you being grateful?

Awesome! Much to unravel and think about here!
