Vigor in Time

“Development doesn’t have a linear slope and it must start somewhere, a genealogical tree”

Some trees are so vast that it takes a couple of people holding hands to get around them. Who can say how many storms and stories they must’ve witness before becoming vigorous. Growing up I was surrounded by more vigorous trees than saplings, some of the perks was listening to their wisdom souvenirs as a result of their experiences. Those souvenirs have become my luggage cart, making moving heavy stuff much easier. It turns out listening to those stories carries the strength and power of a snowball, except it doesn’t have to dissolve. Instead, it becomes a ball of energy which moves much faster when we play as a team. It starts with being grateful for the platform and tools we were given, using everything to better ourselves and everything else follows.

Learning from the past makes our path much easier, one can learn as much from good practices as from bad ones, and perhaps even more from the latter one (what not to do), it’s our opportunity to play a better game. I don’t think Michael Jordan would’ve been the same without Magic Johnson, nor Maradona without Pele, others make us better, yet theory will only get us so far. We still have to show up to practice because greatness and strength take time. Therefore, wisdom and experience go hand in hand, just like calcium which strengthens our bones, but can’t be absorbed without the sun (vitamin D). Our time under the sun and our experiences are essential to strong bones, our structure, and thankfully we already have a foundation even if fragile from those who preceded us.

The provided foundation is a blueprint but we get to choose the design. We can learn from the past but we can’t let it define us. Life is a narrative we get to improve on a daily basis, in the current moment. As life moves on we realize there’s a Circle of Life that goes on, with or without us, and we get choose the role we want to play. It takes a village to build a child, growing takes time, and we are both that child and the village. The good part is we’ve been provided a basis, something to build on, so we can cross a bridge to greener grass with confidence, and the knowledge that we must take care of our grass in order for it to stay flourishing, there’s no other secret; no tree grows robust overnight and all vigorous trees have had to adapt.

Hi! I look forward to sharing topics and reading your thoughts :). I was born in Colombia, lived in TX for 12.5 years, and I now live in LA. Life has the tendency of throwing curveballs, and I've learned that preparation is of the essence. Preparation starts with knowing who we are, and what we want, the rest is history... I am a big admirer of art, artists, passion and creativity. Cheers to originality. I think all problems in life arise from communication. The solution is to become better listeners to ourselves, others, and hopefully be able to express and convey what we actually need… Art has the capacity of expressing what we can not at times. Art is not constricted to one thing... #thecircleoflife #letsgrowtogether
